The Competition Bureau has published the Deceptive Marketing Practices Digest to assist in promoting a better understanding of the relevant provisions of the Competition Act and to provide information regarding marketing and advertising from a legal perspective.  The first issue, which you can access at http://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/eic/site/cb-bc.nsf/eng/03946.html focuses on the digital economy.  As the introduction notes, it addresses "online advertising in Canada, the use of disclaimers, and the growing problem of online advertisements designed to look like independent reviews, a practice often referred to as "astroturfing".  This is of interest to all organizations using online promotions.
