With the holiday season upon us, on December 12, 2014 the Honourable Ed Fast, Minster of International Trade, and the Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of Natural Resources, jointly announced that the export of Canadian-grown Christmas trees is on the rise.

Canada is the world's number-one Christmas tree exporter. In 2013, Canada exported over 1.5 million Christmas trees, representing exports valued at almost 28 million.

Happily Christmas trees are not on Canada's Export Control List. They will be sent far and wide to countries around the world (except for the ones on Canada's economic sanctions "naughty" list).

Happy holidays from the Economic Sanctions and Export Control team at BLG.
