An online job scammer will have new job opportunities as a prison inmate after being sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.
Matthew Hovila, of Edmonton, Alberta, was sentenced to 15 months in jail for contravening the false or misleading representations provisions of the Competition Act, and an additional 15 months in jail for breaching a consent agreement, the Competition Bureau announced recently. This is the first time that the Bureau has obtained a conviction for the contravention of a registered consent agreement.
