It has been reported that game publisher Square Enix has filed suit against 15 unknown defendants, alleging copyright infringement over the game Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

The dispute arose after Square Enix arranged for members of the video game press to access a preview of the game through Valve Software's Steam digital distribution service. Allegedly, an unauthorized copy of the preview was leaked from the Steam account belonging to a journalist from Italian gaming magazine Giochi per il Mio computer ("GMC"). Valve has concluded that the computer belonging to the GMC journalist did not match the computer that leaked the preview, suggesting that a third party had unauthorized access to the GMC account.

Square Enix is seeking an order forcing Steam to release additional information relating to the account that leaked the preview and is claiming damages in excess of $5,000 from the unknown defendants.
