Foi aprovado pelo Diretor-Geral da Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica ("ANEEL"), em 13 de agosto de 2019, a alteração do art. 24 da REN 414/2010, que trata do tempo a ser considerado para faturamento do consumo diário destinado à iluminação pública.

Com as alterações da Resolução Normativa nº 854/2019, cada Município passa a ter um tempo específico calculado para o faturamento da iluminação, sem mais prévia aprovação da ANEEL. Esse tempo terá uma redução média de aproximadamente 25 minutos ou 3,5% em relação ao anteriormente regulado, trazendo benefícios econômicos aos Municípios.

A Agência ainda irá emitir resolução homologatória com o tempo de iluminação pública de cada Município, com prazo de 30 dias para alteração nos faturamentos subsequentes.

Por fim, a Diretoria da ANEEL ainda alterou a Portaria nº 4.845/2017, para acrescentar à Superintendência de Regulação dos Serviços de Distribuição – SRD, a delegação de praticar os atos administrativos necessários à operacionalização do faturamento destinado à iluminação pública ou à iluminação de vias internas de condomínios.
