On April 18, 2018, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense ("CADE") and the National Waterway Transportation Agency ("ANTAQ") signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("Memorandum") aimed at establishing a future technical cooperation agreement between both agencies as a means of combating anti-competitive conduct and to promote a culture of competition in the water transport services.

The Memorandum proposes a number of joint actions between the agencies, such as the exchange of documents, experience, knowledge and studies concerning their areas of expertise, access to databases, organization of workshops and seminars, production of studies, temporary exchange and secondment of public officials, among others.

The Memorandum is in force until the technical cooperation agreement between CADE and ANTAQ is signed.
