Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI), one of the world's largest manufacturers of seats and interiors for the automobile industry, began the construction of a new facility in Graz in January 1998. Close by Chrysler Graz's Voyager and Jeep Grand Cherokee's production facilities, the international automotive supplier will produce seats for the luxury sports utility vehicle.

In later phases, such interior components such as door covers and will be assembled and delivered "just in time." By the final construction phase, around 150 will be employed in the Graz facility.

Worldwide, JCI employs more than 72,000 workers in more than 900 locations - with the Automotive Systems Group's 46,000-strong workforce alone achieving revenues of more than ATS 75 million (US$6 million) a year.
