Waiting for better care: why Australia's hospitals
and health care is failing
Australia has a good health system by international standards, but
it has to get better. Half of all patients across Australia wait
more than a month for an elective hospital procedure, such as a hip

Grattan Institute's State Orange Book 2018 charts the
performance, maps a route to improvement, and recommends penalties
for states that fail to meet waiting list targets (30 October
2018).
