In its work to achieve food security, the FAO collates and disseminates food and agriculture statistics from approximately 245 countries and 35 regions and has done so from 1961 to the present. Agricultural statistics form the basis of policy and decisions, including where to invest, what to grow and whether the population has enough food to eat.
