New SEC Commissioners Sworn In

Robert J. Jackson Jr. and Hester M. Peirce were sworn in as SEC Commissioners. Commissioners Jackson and Peirce were confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 21, 2017.

Robert J. Jackson Jr. and Hester M. Peirce were sworn in as SEC Commissioners. Commissioners Jackson and Peirce were confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 21, 2017.

Commissioner Jackson is a Professor and the Director of the Program on Corporate Law and Policy at Columbia Law School. Previously, he served as senior adviser at the U.S. Treasury Department.

Commissioner Peirce is a Senior Research Fellow and the Director of the Financial Markets Working Group at George Mason University's Mercatus Center. She previously served on the Minority Staff of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Commissioner Peirce was with the SEC from 2000 to 2008, first as a Staff Attorney in the Investment Management Division, and then as Counsel to former Commissioner Paul Atkins.

Both Commissioners are serving unexpired terms. Accordingly, Commissioner Jackson's term will expire on June 5, 2019, and Commissioner Peirce's term on June 5, 2020.
