You may have received an email from Staff of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) regarding OSC Staff Notice 13-704 Applications for Participation Fee Relief for Certain Small Registered Firms and Reporting Issuers.

Staff of the OSC believe that participation fee relief may be appropriate in certain circumstances. Where a registered firm meets the following criteria, it may be entitled to a 50% refund or reduction of its Ontario Capital Markets Participation Fees for 2013.

In connection with its 2013 Capital Markets Participation Fees if your firm:

  1. reported Ontario capital markets revenues of less than CAD$1 million in 2013 AND
  2. its 2013 Ontario revenues decreased by at least 50% from its reported revenues in 2011

your firm may be entitled to a refund.

Please note that this relief must be sought by your firm no later than March 31, 2014.
