Opposition: Jackson Medical Center withdrew request for a contested case hearing but continues to oppose the project. Administrative Law Judge filed Order remanding the project to the State Health Planning & Development Agency (SHPDA) so that the project could be heard by the Certificate of Need Review Board.

AL2012-013, North Alabama Medical Center f/k/a Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence, AL: Proposes to replace the existing 358-bed facility with a six-story, 300-bed medical center and relocate to a new campus in Lauderdale County.

Opposition: Helen Keller Hospital, Athens Limestone Hospital, Parkway Medical Center, Decatur General Hospital, and Alliance Oncology, LLC filed Notice of Intervention and Opposition and a request for a Contested Case Hearing. Administrative Law Judge filed Recommended Order approving this project, but concludes that the Applicant should agree to a reduction of 65 acute care beds and two psychiatric beds in order to meet the 60 percent occupancy level for the applicable annual reporting period. (See Page 41 of Recommended Order for ALJ's discussion of bed reduction; note that this finding was not repeated in the recommendation on the last page of the Order.)

AL2012-024, North Alabama Medical Center f/k/a Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence, AL: Proposes to construct a comprehensive cancer center offering radiation therapy services. The Cancer Center will be built adjacent to the proposed 300-bed replacement hospital with an adjoining corridor.

Opposition: Helen Keller Hospital and Alliance Oncology, LLC filed intervention and Opposition and a request for a Contested Case Hearing. Administrative Law Judge filed Recommended Order denying this project.
