The Uruguayan Patent Office is incorporating a new accelerated
patent procedure (Patent Prosecution Highway) as from October
2016.
Accordingly, the applicant of a patent of invention or utility
model, either by having a favorable patentability exam of said
patent in any of the member countries of the PPH-PROSUR Agreement
(Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Colombia),
or by having a search Report and International Preliminary
Examination issued by the industrial property offices of Chile or
Brazil under PCT, will be able to request the acceleration of
procedures for a patent application corresponding to the same
invention before the UY PTO.
