In part 2 of our webinar series on "Cultural Initiatives in Policing," we shift gears from a discussion of the Ottawa Police Service's pivotal “pilot project,” to take a look at the impactful partnership between the Calgary Police Service (CPS) and the University of Calgary's Shift Research Team and their work in respect of the CPS’s culture project.
The Shift Research Team has been working closely with the Calgary Police Service since 2020. In that time, they have undertaken a number of policy and culture change projects related to addressing sexual harassment, enhancing gender equity, and increasing psychological safety, belonging, and inclusion within the Calgary Police Service. One of their approaches, supported by a Public Health Agency of Canada grant totalling $1.1 million, includes implementing and evaluating a ‘norms and nudges’ approach. This webinar will highlight the partnership goals along with the principles behind the design of the approach and lessons learned to date.
