The Real Deal reported a Thirty Million Dollar affordable housing project in Long Island aimed at the LGBT Senior community. It is open to all and is being funded by State and Federal Tax Credits, a state loan and some private investment. The developer expects tremendous success with the project in light of the fact that many members of the LGBT community face discrimination when they end up in assisted living facilities or senior housing. With the LGBT community and retirement community as large as it is in Florida, developers might consider constructing ALFs with this community in mind.
