The Securities and Capital Markets Commission of Ukraine has circulated information urging joint stock companies having less than 500 shareholders to apply to the Commission for permission to operate their own share registers. The permission must be obtained before 17 October 1996 and involves complying with a number of specific requirements as regards recording of ownership rights to the shares.
