WeirFoulds is pleased to announce that Bota McNamara has re-joined the firm as a Partner in the Caribbean and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups.

Bota has over 20 years of experience litigating multi-jurisdictional matters across the Caribbean and Ontario. His practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, including insolvency litigation and asset recovery, as well as restructuring. Bota is called to the Bars of England & Wales, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Ontario. He has appeared as counsel in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, the High Court and Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, and at all levels of court in Ontario.

Bota’s return to the firm represents a deepening of the Caribbean Practice Group’s bench strength on multi-jurisdictional litigation matters. “We are incredibly excited to have Bota join our team. The depth and breadth of his experience will complement our team’s existing ability to provide exceptional legal services to clients across the Caribbean and in other International Financial Centres,” said Kayla Theeuwen, Chair of the Caribbean Practice Group.

WeirFoulds’ Caribbean Practice Group has a demonstrated history of handling complex commercial and contentious trust matters in the Caribbean and beyond. Many of the Group’s cases are high-profile or have resulted in significant or precedent-setting judgments, influencing areas such as venue selection, procedural rights for appeals to the Privy Council, constitutional rights and freedoms, electronic discovery, bankruptcy and insolvency, and treaty impacts on the enforcement of foreign freezing orders.
