Helena Giles joined TMF Group in 2018 as Director of TMF Trustee Ltd. As a leader within the global Capital Markets team, she works on business development and provides technical expertise on complex new issuance, restructuring and distressed Loan Agency and Debt transactions. While her wealth of experience and expertise progresses the global business, Helena is also passionate about female empowerment and serves as an active committee member with the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, London Network (IWIRC).

The IWIRC is an international organisation committed to the connection, promotion and success of women in the insolvency and restructuring professions worldwide. Recently, the organisation held a networking event for female professionals in the Insolvency and Restructuring fields at which Helena was given the pleasure of providing the opening speech, talking about the importance of networking.

"I believe all networking is important. The importance of female-specific networking though, is that it draws together women with a wide spectrum of ability and experience," she shares. "A safe networking space is created which encourages the sharing of these skills and showcases the women that have made it through to management/executive management roles. Female role models may not be very visible at the firms where women work, and by providing access to female role models at these events, it creates opportunities to learn about their journey to management as well as to open the door to potential mentorship opportunities."

This same passion for female empowerment compelled Helena to be part of TMF Group's internal women's network, where female colleagues from all over the globe discuss ideas, share experiences and initiate internal movements to better progress gender parity at work.

"Having this internal women's network demonstrates TMF Group's commitment to support the development of women in the organisation globally," Helena says. "I look forward to hearing further stories about TMF Group women out and about, and discovering in a shared setting how we can best support each other to grow as a business and to grow personally."

At TMF Group, we believe in empowering and supporting our employees so they can develop and progress in their careers, and we are committed to providing equal opportunities for all.
