Real Estate "PropTech": How Technology and Web-Based Applications Are Changing CRE

This panel will discuss the increasing prominence of property technology (PropTech) and innovative technology-based approaches to commercial real estate (CRE) transactions, as well as the future of new investment vehicles, such as special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs), that have been set up to invest in PropTech. While traditional real estate continues to have access to capital through the debt and equity markets, PropTech, like other technology ventures, lends itself to the expedience of an initial public offering (IPO) via the SPAC process. Some of the largest CRE companies are investing and creating technology that optimizes the way that organizations and people buy, sell, rent or manage properties. We will talk about some of the solutions and companies that are changing real estate tech.

Surplus Lands Act

In an effort to achieve more affordable housing on surplus properties, recent amendments to the Surplus Lands Act significantly expand procedures for local agencies to conduct when selling property. The amendments also impose new reporting obligations and add penalties for noncompliance. This webinar will provide an overview of the new state legislation dictating disposition procedures and identify notable exemptions. It will also review a number of real world case studies at the local level and tips for public-private partnership projects.
