The OFCCP had a banner year (again).

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs touted its accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2020 (October 2019 – September 2020). According to the agency, it recovered $35.6 million for victims of discrimination. This annual haul was second only to FY 2019, when the OFCCP recovered $40.6 million from federal contractors.

The OFCCP also compared its productivity under the Trump Administration to that of previous years.

From FY 2017 through FY 2020, the agency recovered approximately $117 million in remedies for protected class members. As a point of comparison, the recoveries in this four-year period exceed the recoveries in the previous nine-year period of FY 2008-2016 combined.

This past fiscal year was also described as the "best year" for compliance assistance by the OFCCP. The level of compliance assistance was apparently measured by the number of responses to Help Desk inquiries.

In fiscal year 2020, OFCCP responded to 4,765 total inquiries, comprised of 3,477 calls and 1,288 written questions, which is a record for total responses. These results reflect a 44 percent increase over the responses that OFCCP provided to written questions in fiscal year 2019.

As the agency continues to conduct rigorous compliance evaluations and focused reviews, contractors should be proactive in their compliance practices and monitor their Affirmative Action Plans for potential deficiencies and problem areas.
