The New Jersey Senate Labor Committee is scheduled to take up the pending "Ban the Box" legislation. The bill, formally known as "The Opportunity to Compete Act," would prohibit employers from requiring job applicants to disclose their criminal history and would also prohibit advertisements discouraging those with criminal records from applying.

For more information about the bill, check out our earlier blog describing it in more detail, available here. We will continue to provide updates on the bill as it makes its way through the New Jersey legislature.
