The MSRB reported that the trading of municipal securities declined substantially in 2019.

In its annual Fact Book, the MSRB noted that municipal securities trades dropped by 14 percent in 2019 to the lowest level since 2006. According to the Fact Book, the decrease in trading was due to a reduction of retail trades (less than $100,000 in value), while institutional trading (over $1,000,000) increased.

The Fact Book includes monthly, quarterly and yearly aggregate market information from 2015 to 2019 and covers various types of municipal issues, trades and interest rate resets.
