On January 30, 2017, the Information Commissioner's Office
("ICO") gave notice to 11 UK charities threatening fines
for breaches of the UK Data Protection Act. The charities have 28
days to respond. The notices come as part of ICO's wider review
of the use of personal data by charities and concerns about media
reports of pressure on supporters to contribute donations.
