The Personal Data Protection Board ("Board") issued a decision, dated 30 June 2020, and numbered 2020/508, on requests by certain attorneys for an order of the Board directing removal of their professional profiles – which include personal data – from an attorney search website.

Certain attorneys ("Petitioners") petitioned the Board for an order directing removal of their professional profiles – which include personal data – from an attorney search website. Petitioners claim that the allegedly offending attorney profiles utilize data copied without consent from their Turkish Bar Association ("TBB") website profiles.

The Board denied the relief requested by Petitioners, finding that the alleged offending profiles, since they displayed information identical to that on Petitioners' public TBB profiles for the same purpose with TBB, the personal data processing was not unlawful.

A summary of the decision discussed is available in Turkish at this link. (Only available in Turkish).
