New national scope and mandate focuses on cross-industry leadership

Toronto (March 3, 2020) — To celebrate International Women's Day, BLG's Driven By Women program has now expanded across all of its five offices. Building on its grassroots success in Vancouver as a resource for women-led start-ups, Driven By Women now offers a national platform, with greater opportunities for women in business and law to connect, share ideas and support each other.

Driven By Women was founded in 2016 in BLG's Vancouver office by Julie Bogle, a then second-year associate who noted a lack of resources for women in business. "I canvassed the entrepreneurial ecosystem and saw that women lacked support," says Bogle. "With the help of a mentor, I was able to launch Driven By Women to connect other women in business with the networks, resources and opportunities necessary for success."

"Driven By Women supports women in business by enriching cross-industry leadership and collaboration," says Jennifer Archer, BLG partner and Vancouver-based Driven By Women representative. "We are excited to share the program with women leaders across the country."

The first Driven By Women event under the program's new national scope and mandate took place in Vancouver today, featuring guest speaker CEO and entrepreneur Manjit Minhas, who shared her experience and explored issues faced by women in business. Manjit will also be speaking to Driven By Women participants in BLG's Toronto office on March 5, 2020.
