Norton Rose Fulbright's Canadian special situations team led by Canadian chair Walied Soliman and partner Orestes Pasparakis, was named the top target adviser in Bloomberg's inaugural activism advisory league tables.

The global law firm had six engagements in Canada listed in the league tables, which include all new activist campaigns launched in 2019. At the time of their announcements, the combined stake value of the six credited activism campaigns was US$100m.

Having played a leading role in some of Canada's most high-profile shareholder activist and defence mandates, as well as complex reorganization transactions, the Norton Rose Fulbright special situations team has led or defended dozens of proxy battles in recent years.

The team has a strong track record advising activists and companies through shareholder activism, having ranked in the top ten globally in Refinitiv's (formerly Thomson Reuters) tables dating back to 2016.
