Miller & Martin Attorney Stephanie Savage discusses the state of the Tennessee hemp industry in an interview with WRCB TV that aired on Monday, October 14, 2019. Interviewed along with growers, processors and retailers from the Chattanooga area, Ms. Savage addresses how the 2018 Farm Bill deregulated hemp as a Schedule I controlled substance and created an interstate commerce exception which means states cannot prohibit the lawful transportation of hemp across state lines. The passage of the Farm Bill has helped to open the door for more growers and sellers to get involved in the industry. Ms. Savage reminds those involved in the industry to keep an eye on the laws and requirements which are still developing for this emerging hemp industry.
