The American Lawyer magazine, American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and American Law Institute have honored Jones Day Issues & Appeals partner Shay Dvoretzky for his outstanding client representations at the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate courts across the United States.

The American Lawyer magazine named Mr. Dvoretzky a Litigator of the Year for 2019. His unanimous wins at the U.S. Supreme Court (Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. v. Albrecht), the Supreme Court of California (Heller Ehrman LLP v. Jones Day), and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (ACA International v. U.S. Federal Communications Commission) are representative of his effective client representations.

The American Academy of Appellate Lawyers ("AAAL") named Mr. Dvoretzky a 2019 Academy Fellow. Membership in AAAL is reserved for experienced appellate advocates who have demonstrated the highest skill level and integrity. Nominees are thoroughly vetted by the legal and judicial communities in a confidential process and must be elected to the fellowship by the board of directors.

Mr. Dvoretzky is one of only 50 lawyers nationwide elected in 2019 to the American Law Institute ("ALI"), the leading independent legal organization in the United States. ALI drafts, discusses, revises, and publishes Restatements of the Law, Model Codes, and Principles of Law that are enormously influential in the courts and legislatures, as well as in legal scholarship and education. By participating in ALI's work, its members have the opportunity to influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, and to work with other eminent lawyers, judges, and academics.

Mr. Dvoretzky has argued 11 cases in the U.S. Supreme Court and dozens more in appellate courts nationwide. He regularly speaks and writes on appellate advocacy and the Supreme Court. He is a Master of the Edward Coke Appellate Inn of Court, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce's Administrative Law & Regulatory Litigation Committee.
