Walkers is pleased to announce that Brittney Smith has joined
the firm as an associate in the BVI Finance & Corporate and
Brittney joins Walkers after completing her Masters of Law degree in International Financial Law at the University of Manchester, which focused on the law, practice and regulation of financial markets and securities markets.
Brittney was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, fully funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth Office, to pursue the one year masters degree at a UK university. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding professionals, future leaders and influencers that have ambition, leadership potential and a strong academic background to study and network in the UK.
Prior to pursuing her postgraduate studies, Brittney worked as an associate at another offshore law firm on a wide range of corporate, banking and finance transactions in the British Virgin Islands. Brittney also worked with the BVI International Tax Authority where she was responsible for dealing with the practical aspects of the Tax Information Exchange Agreements and the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters requests for the exchange of information for tax purposes.
