Expatriate Law are delighted to announce the formation of our new branch office in Singapore, 'Expatriate Law (Asia) Pte. Ltd'.
The branch office is a Foreign Law Practice approved by the Ministry of Law in Singapore and regulated by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority in England.
Expatriate Law (Asia) Pte. Ltd will provide English divorce and family law advice to British expats and families with links to England who are living in Singapore and across South East Asia.
The Singapore team will be based at Singapore Land Tower in Raffles Place, and will be developed by Mr Sonny Patel who is a partner of the firm. Sonny is an English solicitor with 13 years of post-qualification experience in English family law. He trained and practised exclusively in central London law firms prior to joining Expatriate Law in 2014 where he led their Dubai office.
"I understand that for expats it can be difficult to know where to turn for accurate and trusted advice in the event of marriage breakdown. The decisions that are made at the outset of a divorce have significant and long-lasting implications for all members of the family.
The effective conduct of a cross-border divorce requires technical knowledge combined with practical experience of a number of niche areas of law.
It is essential that clients seek out the assistance of a lawyer who is able to deliver strategic advice relating to, for example: choice of jurisdiction for divorce, domicile residence and nationality, international injunctions, recognition of foreign marriages and divorces, stays and forum disputes, cross-border enforcement and financial relief in the English courts following an overseas divorce.
By establishing a presence in Singapore and working closely with local lawyers across the region, our firm will be ideally placed to meet the needs of British expats at what can be a highly charged and stressful period of their lives."
Alexandra Tribe, Managing Partner of the firm said:
"I am delighted that our firm continues to develop its reach and profile across the world. We already serve a global client base from our Head office in London and team in Dubai.
We were recently nominated in The Law Society Awards 2019 for Excellence in International Legal Services and the Chambers and Partners guide to Professional advisors for High Net worth individuals describes our firm as "the go-to-people for cases involving Dubai and the UAE".
We aim to emulate our success in the Middle East with our new branch in Singapore."
