On September 18, 2019, Jones Day hosted the L. Welch Pogue Award for Lifetime Achievement in Aviation.

The Pogue Award is presented by the International Aviation Club and Aviation Week magazine. It is named for L. Welch Pogue, a name partner in Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, who was chairman of the Civil Aeronautics Board, held other U.S. government positions serving the aviation industry in the 1930s and 1940s, and is credited with advancing the international commercial aviation legal and regulatory regime the world enjoys today. The Pogue Award is presented annually to an individual considered a visionary and preeminent leader of contemporary aviation. The award dinner, held in the L. Welch Pogue Room in Jones Day's Washington Office, is an annual gathering of transportation government officials, aviation industry representatives, and counsel who work with clients in this sector.

This year, the Pogue Award was presented to Marion C. Blakey in recognition of her many achievements in aviation. Ms. Blakey's accomplishments include serving as administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and, later, president and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce North America and the Aerospace Industries Association. She now serves as a nonexecutive director for several corporations and organizations.

Mr. Pogue was the first recipient of this award. Other past recipients of the Pogue Award include former American Airlines CEO Bob Crandall, former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, and former Jones Day partner Andy Steinberg.
