Senior energy lawyer joins Sydney team to spearhead hydrocarbons and renewables
Sydney, Wednesday, 7 August, 2019: Clyde & Co's rapidly expanding energy practice, which has advised on some of the largest and most complex projects, has further bolstered its team with the addition of Senior Associate Sophie Shiffman to the Sydney office. In speaking to The Australian recently, Michael Tooma, Managing Partner of Clyde & Co in Sydney said "Energy has always been a big part of the firm's success story, and we have ambitions in the Australian market to grow that part of the practice".
Sophie has relocated to Sydney from the firm's London office, where she has worked for the past eight years in the energy insurance practice.
"Sophie has extensive experience assisting offshore and onshore energy insurers. She's a welcome addition to our team here in Sydney" said Gareth Horne, Partner, Clyde & Co. She has advised on some of the largest and most complex wind and solar losses in international markets and has recently co-written a paper on Asian renewables insurance, reflecting on commonly arising claims issues in China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
"Given the growing demand for renewables cover in APAC, Sophie is well placed to advise the Australian market on coverage and recoveries, drawing on her international experience," Mr Horne said.
