Funds specialist Tim Cone has been promoted to Managing Associate in Ogier's Cayman Investment Funds team.

Tim is a senior member of Ogier's Latin American practice team with a particular focus on the Brazilian market, advising a broad range of clients in relation to both inward and outward investments. He has extensive experience working with sponsors, asset managers, family offices and onshore counsel advising on the establishment, regulation, corporate governance and ongoing operation of investment funds.

"Since Tim joined Ogier in 2014, he has become a key senior attorney and has developed a strong funds and corporate practice," said Ogier's Global Head of Funds, James Bergstrom.

Latin Lawyer 250 recently recognised Ogier's Latin American team as one of the best-established groups for their work with Brazilian clients, specifically referencing Tim, following his return from a 6-month secondment with Brazilian law firm Pinheiro Neto Advogados last year.

Speaking of his time in Brazil, Tim said: "Working with Brazilian clients and intermediaries is unlike working with those from other jurisdictions. There is a greater emphasis in Brazil on personal relationships and most referrals come from word of mouth. Through a lot of hard work and time spent on building these relationships over the past 25 years, Ogier has a been able to establish a very strong brand in Brazil, particularly in the investment funds space. In recent years, we have seen increased competition in Brazil from other offshore law firms, who are recognising Brazil's potential and the global powerhouse that it is. In response to this, Ogier has taken active steps to increase our presence in Brazil and maintain our position as the leading offshore legal service provider."
