Oblon was listed by Legal 500 in the Patents Prosecution category, marking the firm's 11th consecutive year being ranked. Each year, Legal 500 analyzes the capabilities and strengths of law firms across the world through extensive research and client feedback. In the 2019 rankings, Legal 500 noted that Oblon is among the most active patent filers in the market. Legal 500 said, "The practice's deep bench allows for wide-ranging sector coverage, with a particularly busy caseload in the chemical, electrical and mechanical, and pharmaceutical and medical device sectors."

In one of Oblon's successes, Jacob Doughty joined forces with Tokyo-based Yuki Onoe to advise Japanese imaging and electronics manufacturer Ricoh on the prosecution of a significant number of patents covering chemical technologies. A standout domestic matter was the prosecution of several patents for Children's National Health System, a pediatric hospital in Washington DC. Aisin Seiki, BASF and Essilor are also clients.

"We are proud to be again ranked among the best IP firms in the United States Legal 500," said Managing Partner Philippe Signore. "Being recognized by Legal 500 is an honor and a testament to our team's dedication to the space and the legal community."
