The countdown is on — come June 17, 2019, changes to Canada's Trademarks Act (Act) take effect, transforming the IP landscape with the most significant changes to Canada's trademark system in 60 years.

In this video, members from the Blakes Intellectual Property group discuss the upcoming changes, their implications and how to prepare for, and respond to, the Act's provisions. Among the most notable changes are the elimination of the need to use a mark before registration and measures to align Canada's trademark legislation with international norms and treaties by adopting the Nice Classification and joining the Madrid Protocol.
