A disputes specialist with almost a decade's experience working on sensitive and high-profile matters for the UK financial services regulator has joined Ogier's growing Jersey team.

Daniel Maine has joined the firm's dispute resolution team as a senior associate, and is the fourth new arrival since the start of 2019.

His previous role was as a technical specialist in the Legal Group of the Financial Conduct Authority's enforcement division. In his nine years at the regulator he worked on a broad range of contentious regulatory matters, including applications for regulatory approval by firms and individuals, the use of supervisory tools, and cases involving disciplinary sanctions and prohibition orders.

Partner Nick Williams said that Daniel's arrival was very welcome.

"With his contentious regulatory experience, Daniel adds weight and depth to our team in an area in which we have seen significant recent growth," he said.

"We are very glad to welcome him onboard, and we hope that his first-hand experience on regulatory matters within the FCA will be of significant benefit to our clients.

"We continue to grow in response to client demand, particularly in the areas of contentious regulatory matters, trusts disputes, and restructuring and insolvency instructions."

Daniel joins fellow 2019 arrivals Advocate Damian Evans (counsel), Advocate Eloise Layzell (senior associate) and Matthew Davies (associate) in the team.
