BVI restructuring and insolvency specialist Grant Carroll has been promoted to the Ogier partnership.

Grant, an experienced BVI litigator, joined Ogier last year and has worked on a variety of restructuring matters, including representing the applicants in the first ever "soft touch" provisional liquidation in the jurisdiction, alongside partner Brian Lacy.

Ogier has one of the largest teams of dispute resolution lawyers based within the BVI, supported by BVI-admitted lawyers in the Cayman, Hong Kong, Guernsey and Jersey offices.

The team is the leading one in the jurisdiction in terms of litigators ranked by Chambers Global.

Global Head of Dispute Resolution Rachael Reynolds said: "We are delighted to welcome Grant to the partnership – our BVI dispute resolution team continues to go from strength to strength.

"Grant has made his mark in the time that he has been with us, including in the first ever ground-breaking "soft touch" provisional liquidation for the Constellation Group, and in building strong relationships with our international client base in Latin America, the CIS and Asia."

There are now 64 partners at Ogier, including five in the BVI office.

Grant previously worked with another BVI firm, and practiced at the English Bar, before joining Ogier in June 2018.

He regularly appears in the BVI High Court, Commercial Court and Court of Appeal on a range of matters relating to shareholder disputes, contentious insolvency matters and commercial litigation.
