Gatehouse Chambers is delighted to welcome Paula Costa e Silva, C.Arb as its second Academic Associate Member.
Paula is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where she earned her Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in Law, specialising in Legal Sciences. She currently serves as the President of the Board of the Securities Institute at the University of Lisbon and is the Director of Ius Dictum, the Journal of General Theory of Law.
A fully qualified lawyer at both the Portuguese Bar Association and the Brazilian Bar Association, Paula is also an independent arbitrator and legal expert. Her extensive experience includes serving as Sole Arbitrator, Presiding Arbitrator, and Co-Arbitrator in over one hundred national and international arbitrations, both institutionalised and ad hoc. Her areas of expertise span corporate law, public-private partnerships, construction, international contracts, banking and financing, and patents, among others. Additionally, Paula has acted as a mediator and is recognised as an expert in banking and finance, having been admitted to the Panel of Recognised International Market Experts in Finance (P.R.I.M.E.).
Paula has served as an arbitrator for several prestigious institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC), the Market Arbitration Chamber (CAM), and the Commercial Arbitration Centre of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CAC), where she also holds the position of Vice-President.
