Multidisciplinary team represents Mexico client in significant cross-border acquisition
Carter Ledyard represented Perro Azul, a leading Mexican film and television production company, on the U.S. aspects of its acquisition by The North Road Company. The North Road Company, a media venture launched in 2022 by mogul Peter Chernin, has made its first acquisition in Latin America with Perro Azul. Latin American content production has been a booming market experiencing significant growth, with Mexico leading the majority of the expansion.
Perro Azul has produced Netflix's most watched show ever produced in Mexico and Latin America, "Who Killed Sara? (¿Quién mató a Sara?) and "The Secret of the River (El Secreto Del Río)," Netflix's most popular Spanish-language show. As part of the deal, Perro Azul's founding partners, Alexis Fridman and Juan Uruchurtu, will continue in their leadership roles, alongside Rodrigo Cortina, Diego Rabasa and Julián de Tavira.
Carter Ledyard's Chair of M&A practice and Co-Chair of Latin America practice, Bryan Hall led the deal with Tax partner, Melinda Fellner. The team collaborated closely with the Mexico City law firm, Kavanagh Gorozpe, with corporate partner Patricio Gorozpe and tax partner Paul Kavanagh leading a team including corporate and real estate counsel Edmundo Elías-Loyola, who has since joined Carter Ledyard, and corporate associates Andrea Varas and Paulina Cabrera.
