Matthew Peel has joined the Firm as a partner in the Real Estate Practice, based in the London Office.

Mr. Peelhas a broad, multidisciplinary real estate practice, having acted for a range of clients from listed property companies, developers, operators, private equity, mainstream and alternative lenders, and investment managers across all asset classes. Examples of his work include acting for more than a decade on an important Central London development above the Crossrail station at Bond Street, including a joint venture with a sovereign fund.

His diverse experience, ranging from the acquisition of health care properties, the sale of retirement villages, to complex mixed use developments makes him an ideal addition to our team," said Anna Cartwright, Co-Leader of Jones Day's Real Estate Practice, who is also based in the Firm's London Office.

Mr. Peel has particular experience and a leading reputation in the senior living and health care real estate sector, acting for a number of the major developer/operators in the UK. His work in this area includes leading a multidisciplinary team on the UK's largest single asset acquisition and acting for the borrower on the largest single asset financing. Mr. Peel also has deep experience in setting up and implementing operating platforms in this sector and is a founding member of the Association of Retirement Community Operators' Advisory Council. He is noted as a "next generation partner" in theLegal 500.

Mr. Peel joins the global team of more than 120 lawyers in the Firm's Real Estate Practice, which provides clients with comprehensive legal solutions to business opportunities throughout thereal estate industry worldwide. He will work closely with his Jones Day colleagues in private equity, M&A, tax, environmental law, financial services, and dispute resolution. The Firm's Real Estate clients include real estate funds, investment banks, institutional investors, lenders, major corporations, real estate developers, property management companies, retailers, and hospitality companies.

Mr. Peel earned his law degree from the University of Warwick and his diploma in legal practice from Nottingham Law School.
