Anaford acted as legal counsel in the sale of a painting by Jan Verkade to the iconic Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The work entitled Herinnering [1893] was sold at auction at Sotheby's in London on 20 June 2018.

The price was £200,000, surpassing the estimate of £80,000-120,000.

"It's the first major painting by Verkade to be in the Rijksmuseum's collection," said Tiffany de Waynecourt-Steele, Of Counsel. "This serene painting by the Dutch artist will be on show this summer in Amsterdam."

Verkade was a key figure in Les Nabis, a post-impressionist group that formed at the end of the 1880s in Paris and Brittany and included Paul Serusier, Emile Bernard and Maurice Denis.
