Vistra has announced its instrumental role in one of the highest profile and most complex private equity transactions of 2016 – the acquisition of Thomson Reuters' IP and science business by Baring Private Equity and Onex Partners for $3.55bn.

In total, all 64 Vistra offices were involved across 41 distinct jurisdictions. Vistra was able to help overcome extreme complexity and provide integrated corporate secretarial and governance assistance during the transaction.

Commenting on Vistra Jersey's involvement, Arjan Schaapman, Group Managing Director International Expansion / Corporate & Private Clients, said: "Vistra was delighted to assist with such a significant transaction. The co-operation between the 64 offices in 41 different jurisdictions allowed us to fit the individual needs of our clients irrespective of the scale or complexity of the transaction."

The new company will be rebranded as Clarivate Analytics and will continue to own and operate a collection of subscription-based businesses focused on scientific and academic research, patent analytics and regulatory standards, pharmaceutical and biotech intelligence, trademark protection, domain brand protection and intellectual property management. The company's brands include Web of Science, Cortellis, and Thomson IP Manager, among others.
