On 5 November 2014, the Permanent Representatives Committee, on behalf of the EU Council, reached agreement on the general approach to the now recast Insurance Mediation Directive (IMD 2 – now the Insurance Distribution Directive). This follows the publication in recent weeks of three further compromise texts for the Directive.

This recent agreement paves the way for negotiations to commence with the European Parliament, with the aim of agreeing and adopting the Directive on its first reading.
