We are pleased to report that the Patents and Trade Marks Offices located in the capital, Tripoli, were not damaged during the recent fighting to remove the Gaddafi regime, and that the official records are intact.

The Patents Office is already up and running again, and all national phase applications with priority dates that fell within the nine month closure period can still be filed.

The Trade Marks Office is not functioning at present, as senior staff are still awaiting appointment by the new Government, but it is expected that it will be fully operational quite soon. Meanwhile, it is recommended that applications and supporting documents be prepared for filing as soon as circumstances permit.

We shall, of course, keep you fully informed of all developments. Our inquiries continue and developments will be reported as they arise. Meanwhile queries will be welcomed by your usual Spoor & Fisher contact, or may be sent
