The Income Tax (Exemption)(No. 9) Order 2019
('EO9/19') which seeks to encourage women who have taken a
career break of at least 24 months to return to the workforce by
providing income tax exemption for up to 12 months and was
effective until year of assessment 2020 has been extended to year
of assessment 2024 pursuant to the (Income Tax (Exemption)(No. 9) Order 2019)
(Amendment) Order 2020 ('Amendment Order') that was
gazetted on 30 January 2020.
The extension of the exemption under EO9/19 was announced at the
Malaysian Budget 2020.
To qualify for exemption, an applicant must satisfy the conditions
set out in EO9/19 (as amended), including submitting an application
to the Minister of Finance through Talent Corporation Malaysia
Berhad no later than 31 December 2023.
