Guernsey is hosting its inaugural Sustainable Finance Week during the week commencing 8th June as part of its Green Finance Initiative.  There will be an expert panel speaking via webinar on the subjects of financing sustainability through the lenses of private equity, private capital and family offices, with daily podcasts.

Tim Clipstone, a group partner in our Guernsey office and Guernsey Green Finance committee member said: 'The Sustainable Finance Week was due to take place on Guernsey, but is now being run as a virtual event, with live webinars taking the place of conference keynote speeches and a daily podcast recapping on highlights of the day.  The events build on Guernsey's leading position as a centre for sustainable funds and finance, its membership and championing of the UN's FC4S network, showcasing the Guernsey Green Fund designation, the TISE Green market segment for listing green bonds and, most recently, the publication of the Green Private Equity Principles – a best practice guide for GPs of private equity structures.'

Craig Cordle, Tim's fellow Guernsey funds partner, said: 'The event underlines Guernsey's position both as a leading jurisdiction for private equity funds, but also Guernsey's commitment to green and sustainable finance. There is no question, as we look beyond the pandemic, that the current mood music from investors and governments is that sustainability must play an integral role in shaping any financial recovery – and the Green Private Equity Principles provide GPs and managers with a fantastic platform on which start that discussion.'
