Bank of Valletta has increased the daily limits of its debit cards – CashlinkMalta and Cashlink Visa both for in-store payments and ATM cash withdrawals.

Customers are now able to pay with their Cashlink Malta for purchases in-store of up to €1000 and up to €3000 with their Cashlink Visa, per day. Customers can also withdraw from a BOV ATM up to €700 with Cashlink Malta and €1000 with Cashlink Visa daily.

"This is another measure that we implemented to help deter the spread of COVID-19," stated Franco Xuereb, Executive Electronic Banking at Bank of Valletta. "With this latest increase in daily limits of our most popular debit cards, customers have even less reason to visit a branch or wait in the queue potentially exposing themselves and their families to contagion."

This is the latest addition to the Bank's range of initiatives to encourage customers to stay safe and bank digital, avoiding needless visits to the bank, reduce contact and cash usage.  "Today, customers can truly protect themselves.  There are so many  options to choose from. They can pay with their smartphones through BOV Pay or ApplePay, pay with their Garmin watch; tap their contactless cards to an EPOS machine, pay online, send money to anyone via mobile or internet banking and deposit or withdraw cash from ATMs.  The bank card is so simple to use and yet so versatile – whether it's the physical card, or a virtual card uploaded on one's smartphone or device. There is no minimum amount that one needs to pay – it's easier and more secure, not solely from a covid aspect but also from a security point of view."

The minimum amount that one can withdraw from a branch cashier is €700. Customers who do not hold a bank card and want its convenience, are encouraged to apply for their free Cashlink card by sending a request on https://www.bov.com/Assistants/set-an-appointment.or by an email on info@bov.com.

Customers wanting to pay with a virtual card through their smartphone, are to download the BOV Pay App from Google Playstore and save their BOV Visa Debit or Credit Cards on their smartphone.  One can also upload any Visa Card on Apple Wallet or Garmin Pay.
