The International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) held a key meeting in Beijing last week. According to the press release, applications for new plant varieties in agriculture topped 3,840 in China last year, enabling the country to outgrow the European Union and become the largest filer of new plant varieties among UPOV members.
