As legal leaders in Canada, we are duty-bound to act to generate the positive impact we want to see in our businesses, institutions and communities. With this conviction, we have established, through the generosity of general counsels and law firm managing partners across Canada, The Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund which aims to promote equal access to legal education and diversity in Canadian law faculties through the award of scholarships to students with physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairment.

Through these scholarships, we wish to foster inclusion within the Canadian legal community, to secure its sustainability and the long-term success of our organizations and the communities in which we do business.

This year more than forty Canadian law students have applied for one of the scholarships offered by the Fund. Given this important number of applications, which emphasized the pressing need for support, the Fund allowed the granting of nine scholarships this year.

It is our pleasure to announce that we have recently contacted this year's scholarship recipients to inform them that they have been selected by the Fund to each receive a $3,000 scholarship. This endeavour would not have been possible without our generous donors. With their help, the Fund is able to financially assist these remarkable law students in pursuing their law studies and overcoming social barriers and discrimination.
