Spruson & Ferguson is pleased to showcase our client, Solar Bollard Lighting who have recently received the prestigious Good Design Award Gold Accolade in the Product Design Furniture and Lighting category in recognition for their outstanding design and innovation. The Good Design Awards programme is one of the oldest and most prestigious international design awards in the world, promoting excellence in design and innovation since 1958. It is recognised by the World Design Organization (WDO) as Australia's peak international design endorsement programme.
Solar Bollard Lighting is based in Queensland, Australia, and manufactures and sells solar lighting fixtures, exporting its products to over 35 countries. Led by Mike Arieni, Solar Bollard Lighting has a range of innovative solar lighting solutions for the public and infrastructure sectors.
One of Solar Bollard Lighting's particularly successful products is the SBL2 solar bollard light. From vandal attacks, submersion, golf ball sized hail, snow coverage, or full shade all day, no similar product outperforms their innovative Solar Bollard Light design. Spruson & Ferguson has been pleased to assist Solar Bollard Lighting to obtain a certified Innovation Patent for their SBL2 product, that offers continuous performance at full power for 365 days of the year, even in high risk or heavily shaded areas where continuous lighting is required.
SBL2 Patent Drawing
The solar lighting range offered by Solar Bollard Lighting is ideal for public areas as they are certified to withstand impact from debris and vandalism, and only require an annual clean and polish for peak performance. The top dome of the SBL2 series products has been designed to ensure that birds cannot utilise the solar bollard as a resting point as there is no flat surface or edge for them to grip on to. Having birds rest or nest on top of a solar bollard drastically reduces the amount of irradiation received by the solar module, thereby reducing recharge capabilities, especially around coastal communities. This thoughtful design also eliminates the need for bird spikes and eliminates the risk of any harm to wildlife.
In addition to the patent for the SBL2 product, Spruson & Ferguson has assisted Solar Bollard Lighting obtain a registered design for another lighting model, and a trade mark for the company logo. With a continued focus on innovation and a robust IP strategy, Solar Bollard Lighting has a bright future ahead as leaders in the solar lighting industry. We congratulate Solar Bollard Lighting on their success at the Good Design Awards.
